The Three-Draft Evolution
Exercise 4: Three Drafts, Visible Evolution
Layers Used: Layer 6 (Iterative Drafts)
What You Do
Produce your Draft 3 (final version) after reflecting on all AI feedback, peer discussion, and the originality test. Submit all three drafts together. The grade is the evolution between drafts, not the quality of any single draft.
All three drafts clearly labeled (Draft 1: unassisted, Draft 2: AI-collaborated, Draft 3: final reflection). An Evolution Tracker showing for each transition (1 to 2 and 2 to 3): what was added, what was removed, what was changed, and the reasoning for each change. A final reflection (200 words): What did you create that AI could not have? What does that teach you about where human value lives?
I produced three drafts of a solution: Draft 1 (entirely unassisted),
Draft 2 (AI-collaborated), and Draft 3 (final, after reflection and
feedback).
Please:
(1) Rate the quality improvement from Draft 1 to 2 to 3 on a scale of
1-10 for each transition.
(2) Was the improvement from Draft 1 to Draft 2 primarily AI-driven or
human-driven? Was the improvement from Draft 2 to Draft 3 primarily
AI-driven or human-driven?
(3) Identify the single strongest evolution in my thinking across the
three drafts.
(4) Is Draft 3 genuinely the best version, or did I lose something
valuable from an earlier draft?
(5) Rate my overall creative process from
Passive (AI did the thinking) /
Active (I directed, AI assisted) /
Generative (I created, AI refined).
(6) Rate my final reflection -- does it show genuine insight into my
creative process?

Finally, complete the Thinking Score Card for this exercise:
Independent Thinking (1-10), Critical Evaluation (1-10),
Reasoning Depth (1-10), Originality (1-10), Self-Awareness (1-10).
For each score, give a one-sentence justification.

FINAL REFLECTION (200 words): What did you create that AI could not have? What does that teach you about where human value lives?

What This Teaches You
You learn that creation is not a single act but a process with visible stages. The three-draft structure teaches you that your best work comes from iterating between independent thinking, AI collaboration, and honest reflection -- not from any one source alone.
A Creation Portfolio containing: (1) Draft 1 (blank page sprint, unassisted), (2) Draft 2 with full Creation Log, (3) the Divergence Analysis from the originality test, (4) Draft 3 with Evolution Tracker, and (5) all AI feedback with final reflection.
Grading Criteria
| Component | Weight | What Is Assessed |
|---|---|---|
| Draft 1 quality (evidence of independent thinking) | 20% | Problem diagnosis depth, solution distinctness, honest gap identification |
| Creation Log quality (evidence of creative direction, not passive acceptance) | 25% | Attribution accuracy, evidence of leading vs. following, decision quality |
| Originality test divergence score | 20% | Divergence analysis depth, honest identification of AI-driven vs. human elements |
| Three-draft evolution quality | 20% | Visible intellectual maturation across drafts, substantive rather than cosmetic changes |
| Final reflection depth | 15% | Specific evidence cited, genuine insight into creative process, honest self-assessment |
